We arrived around noon to the hotel and were were told that our room was not quite ready yet. We were asked to wait a little while at the bar, while the room was finished. After some time we were given our key card and we headed to our room just to find out that it had not been cleaned yet. Well, back to the reception and after some phone calls by the receptionist we were given key card to another room. Well, this was not ready either. So back to the reception, where the receptionist had to raise up his hands and admit that the cleaning team was not moving as fast as he had hoped. We were apologised for the inconvenience and offered complimentary drinks at the bar. This was fine with us. We sat down to have our beers and after some time we were told that now the room was cleaned for sure. We finished our drinks and headed to our room, which was indeed now cleaned. This whole saga took maybe 30- 45 mins, but we were not in a rush. The receptionist was doing his best, but the cleaning team could not just keep up with him. This was minor inconvenience for us, but someone else might not have taken this as lightly. The room was clean, bit crammed though, and the bathroom showed some tear and wear already as this is not the newest hotel. We were not bothered by this. There was AC in the room, which you could adjust by yourself, and it did try to do its best to keep the room comfortable during the September heatwave. The public spaces were cooler and the breakfast was excellent and exceeded our expectations. There was also a few warm items, which were missing from the other hotel breakfasts that we had during our trip (sausages to complement the scrambled eggs), and also crepes, madeleines, etc. The surroundings of the hotel are a bit "rough" as it is located next to some ethnic restaurants, butcher's and cheap supermarkets. However, there is a fast bus connection (one stop) to the local RER station that connects you to Gare de Lyon in just 15 mins. The location bit outside of Paris to south-east was perfect for us, as we were heading to day trips from there to south-east of the city. The breakfast was great, the price per night was a lot less than you would have to pay closer to Paris and public transport connections sealed this as a good deal. Creteil is not very charming location to stay when in Paris, but this worked fine for us. I would not necessarily want to walk in the dark from the RER station to the hotel (there is a lot of intersection to cross, etc.), but thanks to the bus service this was not needed. Do note that there is two different bus stops from the RER station to the bus stop close to the hotel. One bus stop is located just under the station, whereas another one (served by other busses), is located a bit further away from the station by the main road. Despite the hiccups in getting the room in our arrival, Ibis Creteil was a good hotel for our needs and good value for money.
