Perfectly located hotel for exploring Amsterdam

I had a great stay in this hotel recently in one of their smaller, budget, "cozy" rooms. This Ibis is perfectly located 5 mins walk from the Centraal station/Eurostar. You can easily access the tram network to get around Amsterdam, find hire bikes, take a boat trip around the canals, or take the FREE boat shuttle to the Northern areas of Amsterdam (3 were running back and forth every few minutes when we were there - the trip itself only takes about 5 minutes). If you want to venture further afield, we took the metro (underground style train network) to a concert at the AFAS concert hall 30 mins South which was very simple. We also caught an 800 bus from the Centraal bus depot (upstairs) to the historic Windmills area of Zaanse Schans - cheaper than a coach tour! The Hotel itself was well appointed with a bar area - unfortunately we didn't have time to stop for food or drink here. The best thing was a small "shop" in the foyer selling essentials and simple drinks & food which can be bought for snacks 24/7. The lobby was manned by friendly reception staff at all times enabling you to come and go as you pleased. We stayed on floor 5 and there was never a sound from the trains. The room itself is definitely cozy! If you require space or luxury this probably isn't the room for you - though I believe larger ones are available. As a room for two people we found it perfect for our needs - the enclosed shower & toilet room could maybe do with a bit more space but we thought it was basically fine. Comes with a well lit mirror handwash, Shower gel & shampoo and a hair dryer. We had a nice view facing the canals and historic buildings of Amsterdam. Ironing facilities are available at the end of each floor. Rooms were kept clean by friendly cleaning staff. Unfortunately the area is currently being renovated and this means there are a lot of roadworks outside - this didn't cause us any nuisance though. Do not get this hotel mixed up with the other Ibis styles nearby - I think this one is the better of the two. My only real negatives: The TV could maybe have done with a few more channels - the choice was quite basic with no apparent radio channels. The rooms do not come with a kettle - we took our own travel kettle etc but apparently they are available at reception. I didn't get a response to an email I sent - but I 'm sure if I'd followed up with a phone call I could've got through to someone. All in all I'd recommend this hotel if you want a well located base for a few days in this great city!

The hotel is located near to the Train station but dissapointed with the room size.

We arrived at the hotel early as we had an early flight, we were able to check in early! The room was comfortable, with a nice bed and a good shower. There was exposed wiring near the air conditioning unit. But overall we enjoyed our stay.

Friendly & helpful check-in. Insufficient room in the bathroom for a fully-grown adult to wash properly. Restaurant & bar seemed to be staffed by people who hadn't much idea of what they were doing, with food orders being mixed up and regular shortages of menu items. Bar service was always polite but often slow with the area seeming unstaffed for long periods. The music changed from general popular during the day music to hip-hop in the evening, suitable for the young staff there, but not for many of the clientele. Breakfast was total chaos with food items running out or not being the same each day and coffee machines failing on a regular basis for lack of attention. Basically, not enough staff on duty.
